Heritage Village, Kota Kinabalu

First we will entered the Museum but as we all kno dat ther is no photography allowed inside the building, so I can just briefly tell wat we see, as we enter inside, first thing dat i saw was the huge skeleton of the big whale dat die (sory i din kno the proper words, maybe drown..hee) near the Gaya Island. It`s really big and huge. You guys must come and see it for urself. The building is situated on a hill its position intersecting with the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The imposing museum is the largest museum of the many museums in the state. The building complex was built in 1985, consists of the Main Building, Centre for Science and Education, Cultural Village, Sabah Art Gallery and Museum of Islamic Civilization. Inside are a variety of places including galleries, dis galleries also show all the Unduk Ngadau pictures from past to present, also ther a lot of the cultural costumes display here. Ther a so many things dat we din kno about our culture, and we can learn dat all from here, lots of information dat we can gain here. Natural History, Pottery, Ethnography and Archaeology exhibits. Pottery, traditional weapons and costumes reflect the cultural diversity of this country and strengthen the trade relations between Sabah earlier with its neighbors in Southeast Asia and China. The museum also houses musical instruments, and ritual tools. Actually walking around inside dis museum is kind of scary and spooky, maybe becuz of the surrounding area dat is so quite.

The Sabah Museum Heritage Village is situated within the Ethnobotanical Gardens in the Sabah Museum Complex. It was officiated by His Excellency the Head of State, on 15th. July 1990 in conjunction with the Sabah Museum 25th. anniversary celebration. Prior to 1st. January 1995, the Sabah Museum Heritage Village was known as The Sabah Museum Traditional Houses. The Heritage Village displays replicas of traditional houses which are made up of 11units of houses of the local communities from various areas in Sabah, as well as a Lepa boat. The village and the gardens are integrated to reflect the inter-relationship between man and his environment. The Ethnobotanical Gardens consist of plants from which are derived sources of food as well as ritual and building materials used by the local communities. The traditional houses display the beauty of traditional architecture which incorporates various cultural aspects of the ethnic groups of Sabah that can be appreciated by all generations as well as visitors to the State. Huts which are used for daily activities or feasts as well as for ritual ceremonies are also built in the village. The houses were built by the various relevant ethnic groups themselves to ensure quality and authenticity of each of these houses. They also reflect the skills of the local people in the past in utilising existing building materials from their environment. These houses are furnished with artefacts to create a true atmosphere. Occassionally, traditional music is played to enliven the village.
